"Circumsize me. But no cutting!"

Science

We've all been raised knowing what circumsision is. Most men quake at the thought of it, even though it's likely happened to them. For those who don't know, circumsision is when a male human's foreskin is cut off, usually at infancy.

What's creepy is it doens't have to be cut off. It can be removed with the help of creepy PVC-Piping-looking things and rubber bands.

Did I mention Engrish? Oh, boy, you'd better believe it!

It is now the year 2002. We are a good two years into the Future, and I thought it was time to let you in on a few things that we thought would be Futuristic years ago that are just now shaping up: Space Tourism, No-Sleep pills, and Quorn.

Update [2002-8-13 9:54:5 by matt]: This just in! Quorn is very bad for you, so don't eat it. Instead, may I recommend Bacon?

The Shark Conspiracy: Deadly Evil Killers of the Deep

Sharks have been around in their present form for 400 million years. They are some of the most feared (and some say misunderstood) predators in the world. Terms like "deadly" and "man eating" are often used just before the word "shark", and rightly so. Of all the animals in the world that pose a threat to Humanity as the dominant species on this planet, sharks are easily the most dangerous.

It is time for humanity to step up and reclaim the beaches that are rightly ours before the shark menace grows too large and sophisticated. Their network is larger and far more organized than that of the Al Queda, and their conspiracies run far deeper. Herein we discuss what the future plans of sharks may be, and what we can do to prepare.

Moon Rock has Higher Street Price than Crack Rock

Crime
By matt, Section Sci-Tech

As if the news earlier this week that we were almost hit by a fucking asteroid wasn't weird enough, another rock from Space is making the rounds of the news, and not for almost wiping us out, but rather because NASA has started a moon rock cartel.

The American space agency says owning any piece of lunar material is a crime, unless you get it from them.

"In almost all cases, owning lunar material is illegal. There are a few exceptions," said Robert Pearlman, operator of the Collectspace Web site. "The legal moon material that has surfaced, and NASA has tended to agree with, are items that the transfer of ownership could be shown through paperwork starting with NASA and ending with the current owner."

It's Astronauts in the Hood.

Now that we've got your attention - here, for your pleasure, (and because, admittedly, no one else had), is some crap you'd rather not know!

Science is surprising. It seems as if every time one thinks, "Wow - that's pretty neat", some Smart, Balding, Grey-Haired Guy with a Slavic accent comes along and says, "Zat ess nuh sink".

Who doesn't like cool gadgets. Like toys that James Bond would use, or that entertaining cartoon character, Inspector Gadget.

Luckily, we don't have the same misfires Gadget does when it comes to our highly evolved technological advances. Some new products on the market opened up my eyes today, however.

"Water-Ice" on Mars, NASA says.

News

The Mars Odyssey spacecraft has made what could be the most important discovery in our history: there are ice reservoirs on Mars.

NASA is expected to make a formal announcement next Thursday, according to the BBC. The sub-surface glacier, if melted, could create a 500 meter deep planet-wide ocean scientists say. This discovery lends new credibility to a plethora theories, including the possibility of an ancient Martain civilization.

Are Super-Bugs the Real Rainmakers?

According to this report from the University of East London (EAL), there is evidence linking airborne microbes to the formation of clouds and subsequent rainfall.

This is definitely in the category of "almost unbelievable" but then again, we've thought that before, right? I mean, who would have believed that MattOly would get - and hold on to - such a hottie girlfriend?
