Terrorism is inherently destructive, intimidating, cruel and deadly. With the recent school bombing event in Russia involving Chechen rebels, some have arbitrarily labeled the actions of the Chechens as terrorism and even religious zealotry. The Olympic Games are a proud tradition going back like a gazillion years, right? The top athletes from all the countries in the world get together once every four years to see who's the best, but not strictly out of fierce competition, but in the spirit of brotherhood. We can stand behind that. Unity is something that everyone in the world (especially now) could use. Anything that brings us closer together is a good thing. Unfortunately, that's not these Olympic Games. The actual sport has taken a backseat to the spectacle that the Olympics have come to be.
