let me say that again, I don't think you got it:

Ok. Yeah, lose submission cue and add pictures. though maybe they'd need supervision. Give the core base users editor-type power to weed out the inappropriate files, or at least hide them.

Maybe preserve sections so you can sort/search and see them on the front page at a glance, but put all submissions on the front page.
